The impact drill is a power tool that is used to drive screws and other fasteners. It uses impact energy to drive a temporary head on the bit by means of a hamm ering action or striking force, providing a very high impact velocity at the end of the tool. The action is similar to an axe or sledge hamm er impacting with great force on a chisel edge striking the wedge, driving it into wood.
